Tokyo Independent is a submission-based exhibition open to everyone. It is open to all, regardless of age, nationality, race, culture, creed, gender and sexual orientation, and regardless whether you have received education in the arts or not. Anyone who has the intention to be an artist has the right to apply.
As a rule, the submitted works will not be screened; however, during the registration process, Toyomi Hoshina and Yutaka Sone will review the works.
Works that could possibly be physically or psychologically offensive or could be harmful to the submitter him or herself and others, and works that could be seen as promotional to specific political or religious groups will be the subject of on-site discussion. Please understand that the works may be deemed unsuitable for submission.
Artists who wish to participate in Tokyo Independent should bring their works to the Chinretsukan Gallery at Tokyo University of the Arts on Friday, April 12, 2019. We will begin registration from 8am. There are no restrictions regarding work format; we are accepting inquiries via the exhibition website and social media platforms.
